Working with Community Leaders
We Couldn’t Do It Without Them.
You are not alone. And we are not alone. Avnei Chein is putting together a network of professionals to guide us every step of the way. Foremost among our guidance comes from our esteemed local Rabbis, who are often the first line of communication with many families and who understand and appreciate our work.
Here is what they have to say:
Rabbi Shmuel Z. Eidensohn, Chairman, Kupa Shel Tzedaka, Ramat Beit Shemesh
Aveni Chein was founded in response to years of families in the community suffering in silence from complex mental health crises. Severe depression, mental breakdown and other mental health events that reach situations of pikuach nefesh, can utterly tear apart an entire family. Families once functioning normally find themselves alone and terrified.
The goal of “Avnei Chein” is to support and assist these families through the complex maze of the mental health system as well as to provide familial support in times of crisis. Guidance provided includes hand in hand support to provide immediate services during a crisis, referrals to the most appropriate mental health professionals based on the issue as well as legal and communal support. From connecting with hospitals and government organizations, family rehabilitation and beyond, Avnei Chein with Bisyatta Dishmaya can help families return to normal life.
Rabbi David and Judy Green along with Sol and Fran Jakubowicz have taken upon themselves this great challenge with the goal of being the primary and central address for those who are lost in the confusing bureaucracy of the various authorities and bodies, and to give every family in the community access to the desperately needed support and tools needed to overcome their crisis.
I urge you to support this life saving cause.
Shmuel Z. Eidensohn, Chairman, Kupa Shel Tzedaka, Ramat Beit Shemesh
Rabbi Yaacov Haber, Rabbi of Kehillas Shivtei Yeshurun, Ramat Beit Shemesh
Those suffering from mental health issues have long been overlooked in our community. The medical guidance system, which our community so excels in, often passes over the mentally ill. They and their families often suffer in silence with no where to turn, or even worse, well meaning people offer damaging advice. Avnei Chein is a new initiative in our community which provides professional guidance for men, women and children that are suffering alone. Please join me in supporting this vital project.
Rabbi Elimelech Kornfeld, Rabbi of Kehillas HaGra, Ramat Beit Shemesh
Avnei Chein is making a major contribution to our community by providing guidance and advocacy for people suffering from mental health issues and trying to navigate the complex system. This is a huge challenge, causing untold levels of suffering for many families.
People should no longer have to suffer in isolation and silence. By guiding people through the complex maze of relevant organizations and providing numerous forms of family support, Avnei Chein is effectively filling a critical gap in our community. The organization was created by Baalei Chesed, who together with local Rabbanim have put together a group of serious, experienced and highly professional individuals who are working to create a better path forward.
I support their efforts and encourage those who have the ability to strengthen this organization to do so.
Rabbi Elimelech Kornfeld, Rav of Kehillas Hagra.
